PGIMER organised Poster Exhibition and Public Forum on Organ Donation in the Jakir Hall and in Bhargava auditorium on 6th August 2014 on the occasion of Word Organ Donation Day. It began at around 11:30 Am and continued up to 5 PM with various activities regarding Organ Donation.

POSTER EXHIBITION

The Poster Exhibition organized in Jakir Hall. There was an overwhelming response to the poster competition and 1121 posters were submitted. These posters came from various state, schools, colleges, professionals and others. All these posters were displayed in the Jakir and were seen by the Honourable Governor of Haryana Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki. During his address he praised the efforts done by the participants especially the students.

ORGAN PLEDGE

Lamp of life, PGIMER, arranged stall for organ donor card, where 50 people agreed and filled up the form for organ donation at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

PUBLIC FORUM

This was held from 3:30 to 4:30 PM at Bhargawa Auditorium PGIMER; Dr RK Dhiman spoke on organ donation in India: challenges and solutions, Dr A Duseja spoke on “Who can donate organs” and Dr Sanjay Jain spoke on concept of Brain Death. This was followed by the interactive question & answer session.

AWARD DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY

Honourable Governor of Haryana Kaptan Singh Solanki was the chief guest. Other persons on the dais were: Prof RK Dhiman, Organ Donation Coordinator; Prof. Amod Gupta, Dean PGI; Prof Y Chawla, Director PGI and Prof SubhashVarma, Chairman IFC. Dr RK Dhiman presented a report on Organ Donation activity across the world, in India and in PGIMER. Prof Chawla elaborated on the achievements of the PGI and Prof. Amod Gupta gave vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, participants, students, school teacher and PGI faculty, staff and students for being present in the function.

Honourable Governor of Haryana Kaptan Singh Solanki distributed the prizes to winner participants of Poster Competition. The Function was ended after the singing of the national anthem.
